In pondering the seemingly mundane question of how house number lights illuminate a city, I find myself on a philosophical journey that transcends the physical source of their glow. ‘Where are they coming from?’ evolves beyond a geographical inquiry, becoming a reflection of the metaphysical aspects of my own existence. As these lights flicker or stand steady, they symbolise not only the collective human search for meaning within the urban landscape but also my personal quest for significance.

Philosophically, the origins of the lights extend into a contemplation of my own beginnings. Much like the varied sources contributing to their illumination—overhead streetlights, individual fixtures expressing a house’s identity, and the collective radiance shaping the cityscape—I grapple with the complexities of my own origins. Existentialism, in this context, urges me to confront the fundamental queries of my existence, finding resonance in the glow of house number lights that collectively contribute to the brilliance of urban life.
